A multisite hospital to be as close as possible to the needs of the population. The Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) plays a central role in the Swiss health care landscape: it is responsible for managing public hospitals in Ticino to ensure that citizens have the inpatient facilities and medical services they need; it concentrates resources and expertise by giving different focuses to different sites according to their respective mandates related to health care delivery.

As an independent and non-profit organisation, the interest group for doctors and other academic professions promotes the professional and economic interests of its members. Founded in 1980, the association now has around 12,000 members.
